Kesher Israel: RLC Overview
Kesher Israel Congregation - West Chester, PA
Kesher Israel is more than a synagogue, more than a religious school, more than a center for life-cycle events.
We strive to be a caring community helping each other on our "Jewish Journeys", finding a greater purpose and
meaning in our daily lives. We aspire to make our community & our world a better place through active Jewish
living and informed by Jewish learning.

Religious Life

{Ark Cover}

Kesher Israel's Religious Life Committee (RLC) deals with all aspects of religious life within the synagogue. The Rabbi works closely with the members of RLC to make sure that all policies, activities and programs of the synagogue follow halachah, Jewish law and practice, as interpreted by the Conservative movement.

The RLC looks at the influence of ritual in all aspects of our communal life. This committee, in tandem with the Rabbi, explores ways of bringing a deeper understanding of and interaction with a wide variety of rituals and practices. Recently, this has included our shabbat torah study sessions, baby naming ceremonies, and using musical instruments to enhance services.

The committee fully appreciates that tradition plays an integral role in our lives and the possibility of a change is not an easy one. The committee looks into various options, and does a very comprehensive study on the subjects so that there will not be an abrupt change.

The RLC is made up of a cross section of many points of views from our congregation. If you have any feedback or questions about any part of our rituals, please contact the office.

If you have a moment, please review A Spiritual Orientation to Jewish Prayer .
